Client Spotlight: Allison Low
I thought it would be fun to highlight a client each month who has really made big strides in their Pilates workout! Every one of my clients work hard each week and it has been exciting to see the changes that Pilates has had on their bodies and in their lives. A lot of them are coming to Pilates twice a week and this really makes a difference on their overall goals!
Today we highlight Allison Low.
Allison came to Pilates in November of 2016, right after she turned 35. She is a mother of three and was diagnosed with Diastasis Recti at about 4 fingers width and also has had a desk job for 11 years where she sat all day in pain. So Allison knew it was time to take control and Pilates was the answer! I asked her a few questions so she could tell us more about her journey and how Pilates helped heal her body.
What brought you to Pilates?
Pain brought me to Pilates. I had been suffering with core weakness for several years due to 3 pregnancies and 11 years sitting in an office chair. I had been diagnosed with a nearly 4cm Diastasis Recti after baby #2 and had never completely healed it even with physical therapy. I had tried many different types of exercise, but none of them started with deep core work and connection to help my body relearn how it is supposed to move.
What is your favorite Pilates exercise?
I LOVE THEM ALL!! But, my favorites are the ones that work my hips and obliques. I finally have a waist again, and I’m feeling SO strong!
How has Pilates helped you in your life?
Pilates has CHANGED my life. Before I started Pilates, I was experiencing neck, back, and hip pain every day, getting a chiropractic adjustment once or twice a week, and having to take 600 – 800 mg of ibuprofen every night just to be able to sleep comfortably. I couldn’t lift my children without pain. Now, I am nearly pain free. I go to the chiropractor once a month or less. I sleep through the night and play with my children without aches and pains. I’m sold! I have never felt stronger or more balanced. I will be doing Pilates for the rest of my life. This is how my body is supposed to move!
